Create a Competition

Type of race

Competitions can be of two types:

  1. Block competition: classic amateur self-certification competition in which participants accumulate points on the basis of the blocks they close.
  2. Time trial: designed for suspension challenges or similar, such as the one proposed by Wild Country with the CrackBox or by Explore Climbing with the beam.

Tender creation procedure

Step 01 | Configure basic information

  1. Then click “Create new Race”
  2. Fill in the first required data:
    1. Race name: your choice
    2. Match QR code: you can select 'Default' to automatically create a specific one for this race
    3. Race type: choose the correct option according to the race you are creating (choose from those listed at the beginning of the article)
    4. Automatic acceptance:
      1. Check this box if you want to allow users to access the race by simply scanning the QR code
      2. If you do not tick it, you will have to accept all participants from the list of registered participants (after they have scanned the QR)
    5. Calculation model (only available if it is a block race):
      1. No scoring: this way the competition does not generate a real ranking but is a non-competitive version where only participation counts
      2. Relative: the score of each block varies according to the number of people who 'close' it (in practice you assign it a starting value which is divided by the number of people who declare via the app that they have done it)
      3. Absolute: each block has a fixed score
  3. Click “Save” to open the 2nd half of the page, where you will find
    1. Race Management' section: to activate, pause and stop the race
    2. Further options for configuring the race are explained in the following section.

Step 02 | Below there are two possibilities

Case 01 | If it is a block competition you will find:

  1. “Block List” section: click on the “+” next to “Add a new race block” to create a set of blocks, indicating:
    1. Colour: usually indicates the grade and is used to generate the Block Name; you can also choose 'Block' to create a single set of blocks not divided by colour;
    2. Score: starting value of all blocks in the set being created
    3. From ... To: indicate the range of blocks you want to include in this set (e.g. "1 to 10", "11 to 15" etc.)
  2. “List of Categories” section: click on the “+” next to “Add a new category” to create a category, indicating:
    1. Genre: mandatory
    2. Level: optional, if you want to create a single ranking without distinction between Top and Amateurs choose the option Unspecified
    3. Description: is the name of the category, it is generated automatically, but you can change it.

⚠️ NB

  1. After creating the block sets they will automatically be added to all the categories you create, but you can remove or edit them with the appropriate buttons
  2. To avoid any type of problem, it is recommended to FIRST create all the desired block sets and only AFTER create all the categories, possibly eliminating superfluous block sets from each category.

Case 02 | If it is a suspension race you will find:

“List of Categories” section: click on the “+” next to “Add a new category” to create a category, indicating:

  1. Genre: mandatory
  2. Level: optional, if you want to create a single ranking without distinction between Top and Amateurs choose the Not specified option
  3. Description: it is the name of the category, it is generated automatically, but you can modify it.
